Teresa Jalbert, who works for William E. Wood and Associates in Virginia Beach, has been named as one of the top Megabrokers of Virginia by Unique Homes, the national magazine of luxury real estate.
Jalbert, 44, a former music teacher who has been involved in real estate for 11 years, has specialized in exclusive homes - priced from $500,000 to $2 million - for the past two years. She has worked for Wood for four years.
A native of Virginia Beach, Jalbert is a graduate of Longwood College, where she majored in music.
She has already sold four houses for more than $1 million each this year. Her sale of a $2 million home in 1992 is believed to be the largest single sale in Hampton Roads.
Angry over the recent increase in your flood insurance? Representatives from the National Flood Insurance Program and individual insurance companies will be on hand to answer questions about the new full coverage policy at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Bayside Recreation Center, 4420 First Court Road, Virginia Beach.
The meeting, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Southeast Virginia chapter of the Community Association Institute. The updated insurance rules affect owners of both houses and condominiums who live near water.
For further information, contact the Community Association Institute at 464-3009.
Mary Ann Viola Real Estate Inc., 838-F George Washington Highway North, Chesapeake, is offering a new service for homeowners listing their property with the firm - membership in the Homeowners Association of America.
The membership, provided at no extra cost, includes a 10-minute videotape offering hints on selling a house, a booklet answering questions about moving and insurance coverage that protects the seller from liability after the sale because of unintentional errors.
No matter how you feel about backyard birds, the government is ready to help.
For folks who want to lure colorful, chirping feathered friends to their turf, the government's fall Consumer Information Catalog offers a set of three pamphlets called ``For the Birds.'' The pamphlets discuss how to attract different species, what to feed them and how to buy or build suitable homes.
But the eagle-eyed catalog reader may also note the presence of a treatise called ``Backyard Bird Problems.'' It talks about how to prevent them from exhibiting such behavior as destroying garden plants and nesting in gutters and chimneys.
The ``For the Birds'' set costs 50 cents while ``Backyard Bird Problems'' is free. Order both or either from R. Woods, Consumer Information Center, Pueblo, Colo., 81009. MEMO: On the Move reports management changes, awards, seminars and new
services offered by real estate firms. The events should be generally
open to the public. Photos will be used as space permits and cannot be
returned.
