MARY B. BASS

Mary Elizabeth Benton Bass, 86, of Portsmouth, died Oct. 21, 1994.

Mrs. Bass was born in Portsmouth and was the widow of Lindsay L. Bass. She was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church and was retired from Miller & Rhodes Department Store after 48 years.

Survivors include a sister, Annie Benton Thompson of Portsmouth; four nieces, Diane B. Snellinger of Suffolk, Susan B. Yearby of Portsmouth, Cynthia B. Howell of Raleigh, N.C. and Eleanor Coburn of Portsmouth; and a nephew, Richard Rude of Richmond.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. George F. Mullinax and the Rev. Paul Parker. The family will be at Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
