EXECUTIVE TRACK

ARCHITECTURAL

Gerald A. Porterfield was named a vice president and director of marketing with The TAF Group in Virginia Beach.

Porterfield, a land planner/landscape architect, was director of community design with the Talbot Group prior to its merger to form The TAF Group.

BANKING

Linda S. Inman was promoted from a vice president to senior vice president with Central Fidelity in Norfolk.

Inman joined the bank in 1991, and presently serves as group manager of its financial services division for the Eastern region.

CHAMBER

John E. Schwartz was named executive director of the Virginia Beach division of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce.

He is responsible for the division's office administration, executive committee and board of directors.

Schwartz is retired from the U.S. Coast Guard.

HOSPITALITY

The Doubletree Club Hotel in Norfolk, formerly the Sheraton Inn at Military Circle Shopping Center, appointed Martha A. Fraser director of sales and marketing, and Cynthia Tolnay as corporate sales manager.

Fraser previously was the owner of Flowers Etc. in Norfolk, and Tolnay was a sales manager with a Ramada hotel in Dallas, Texas.

Jim Kinane remains as the hotels general manager.

MEDIA

Allison Askew-Hahn was promoted to manager of Electronic Information Services with The Virginia-Pilot and The Ledger-Star.

She was Infoline marketing director for Landmark Information Services with Landmark Communication Inc. in Norfolk. She replaces Gordon Borrell who will devote full time working with InfiNet.

Askew-Hahn joined the newspapers in 1988 as a advertising representative, and in 1991 joined Infoline, a Virginian-Pilot and Ledger-Star subsidiary.

ORGANIZATIONS

Carter Ficklen was elected president of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, Tidewater local section. Ficklen is with the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility.

Kent Tarbutton was elected president of the Virginia Hospitality and Travel Industry Association. Tarbutton is president of Tabutton Associates Inc., a hotel/motel management company in Virginia Beach.

MID-ATLANTIC

Richard A. Shoemaker was elected president and chief executive officer with First Virginia Bank in Franklin County.

He will oversee six branches with assets of $123 million.

Shoemaker has been with First Virginia since 1971, and most recently was senior vice president and zone manager for the Tidewater area. MEMO: Executive Track reports executive and management changes. Executive
