The political ticket was incomplete at the 27th annual Chamber Day in Isle of Wight County. Independent U.S. senatorial candidate J. Marshall Coleman showed up. His rivals, Sen. Chuck Robb and Oliver North, didn't appear. In the House of Representatives race for the Fourth District seat, however, both candidates - incumbent Democrat Norman Sisisky and his opponent, Republican George Sweet - were there last Wednesday to feast on barbecued pork chops and to shake hands. It's a tradition in any election year that the event sponsored by the Isle of Wight/Smithfield Chamber of Commerce attracts candidates vying for a spot in Richmond or Washington. And another tradition was upheld. Raindrops held off until the final minutes of the event that attracted nearly 800 hungry chamber supporters and local business people to the Future Farmers of America Camp at Morgart's Beach.
