Regarding ``U.S. trade embargo policy is killing many Cubans'' (Alexander Cockburn, Perspectives column, Oct. 8):
The fact is that before Castro, Cuba produced. It was ahead of the rest of Latin America in every respect. We had our own problems, but we produced.
If we had had the facilities and the means then that we Cubans found here in the United States and elsewhere, Cuba would be a golden plate. We have proved it not only in Miami but also in Venezuela, in Santo Domingo, Puerto Rico, Spain, Brazil - anywhere we go. We do not like to beg or live on the dole. We do not look forward to welfare. We produce.
