WILLIAM F. LATHAM

William F. Latham, 86, of Flobert Drive, Va. Beach, died Tuesday, October 25, 1994.

Mr. Latham was born in Royal, N.C., on January 14, 1908. He was an Elder and member of First Christian Church, Disciples in Norfolk, Va.

His business career included 19 years as a store manager with the David Pender grocery chain and over 30 years in the Procurement Office at the Naval Operating Base, Norfolk. He was a past member of the Va. Beach Toastmasters and was an accomplished bowler. Mr. Latham was a graduate of the Class of 1927 at Maury High School.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Catherine Kirkman Latham, a son, William F. Latham, Jr. and wife Dorothy Smith Latham, and a sister, Olga Latham White, all of Va. Beach, Va. He is also survived by two grandsons, William F. Latham III of Va. Beach and David Lee Latham of Portsmouth and a very special cousin, Elmo Mallison of Tunis, N.C.

A graveside service will be held in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, by Rev. William Howard and Rev. Jack Austin on Thursday, October 27, 1994 at 12 noon.

The family will receive friends at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to First Christian Church, Disciples, 1600 Colonial Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23517.
