ESAU BETHEA

Esau Bethea, 74, of the 1900 block of Greenleaf Drive, a retired self-employed cement finisher, died Oct. 23, 1994.

Mr. Bethea was born in South Carolina, the widower of Hattie Bethea and a member of First Baptist Church West Munden.

Survivors include 10 daughters, Evelyn Bethea, Adell Stevenson, Marilyn Webb and Arnethia Fuller, all of Chesapeake, Gwendolyn Bethea, Angela Bethea, Mary Moore, Lorene Bethea and Loretta Bethea, all of Norfolk, and Linda Stewart of Virginia Beach; seven sons, Eugene Bethea, Allen Bethea, Roger Bethea, Melvin Bethea, Marvin Bethea, Ronald Bethea and Calvin Bethea, all of Norfolk; a brother, Kemper Bethea of Norfolk; 64 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church West Munden, Chesapeake, by Dr. John L. Ashby. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Pretlow's Funeral Home and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Family and friends will assemble at 1938 Greenleaf Drive, Norfolk, at 12:15 p.m. for the processional to the church.
