Mildred Shomaker Welton, 76, previously of Norfolk and a retired teacher, died Oct. 24, 1994, in Chesapeake.
Mrs. Welton was born in Richmond, Va. She retired from the Virginia Beach city public school system, was formerly a member of Norview United Methodist Church and Oak Grove United Methodist Church, was a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star Norview Chapter and was the widow of Trenton C. Welton.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Welton Gard of Virginia Beach; two sons, Eugene Welton of Chesapeake and Marvin Welton of Cary, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. W. Roberts McIvor. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association.
