Hughes C. Heath, 78, died Oct. 25, 1994, in a Chesapeake hospital.
Mr. Heath was born in Pennicale, N.C. He retired from civil service and was a member of Gateway Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Henson Heath; two daughters, Barbara Brown of Raleigh, N.C., and Kay Land of Memphis, Tenn.; three sons, Jerry Heath of Memphis, Tenn., Harold Heath of Chesapeake and Charles Heath of Martinsville, Va.; a sister, Josephine Thompson of Ellerbe, N.C.; a brother, H.W. Heath of Dunn, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gateway Freewill Baptist Church, Virginia Beach, by Pastor K. Dale Burden and Pastor Karl Sexton. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
