Police late Tuesday were investigating two separate assaults that left three people wounded, two of them critically.
In the first, two teens were wounded about 10:15 p.m. in the 400 block of E. Liberty St. in what may have been a drug-related drive-by shooting, police said.
The shooting victims, whose names were not available, were believed to be in their late teens.
One was shot in the head and taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in critical condition. Police didn't expect him to live.
The other was shot in the foot, police said.
Late Tuesday, police were looking for a white Lincoln sedan with several occupants who they believe did the shooting.
A witness said the sedan slowed as it approached the teens and the occupants inside opened fire.
In the other case, police responding to a call outside a restaurant in the 8100 block of Shore Drive found a man who had been stabbed several times in the back.
He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. His name and age were not available. Police said his wounds appeared to be serious.
