Obici Hospital will begin a $7 million construction project in spring, according to William Giermak, president and chief executive officer.
The project, expected to be completed by mid-1996, will give the hospital a new conference center and a new site for its nursing schools.
Many meetings are now held in the Main Street Cafe, in the hospital's basement.
``More room is needed,'' Giermak told a recent meeting of the Hospital Auxiliary.
The building that houses the School of Nursing reportedly will be torn down. A new, three-story building of about 40,000 square feet will be constructed between the current site and the hospital. It will have classrooms and dormitories for RN and LPN candidates and the school's administrative offices.
The construction project also includes rearranging parking and driveway facilities.
Giermak offered the Hospital Auxiliary a preview of the project but did not elaborate. Further details will be announced later. by CNB
