MAN CONVICTED IN DRUG DEATH

A man was convicted of second-degree murder Tuesday in the death of a friend from heroin injections.

William S. Seagle Jr., 37, of the 1900 block of Peartree St., was charged after Amy L. Gerstein, 21, died Jan. 27 from three heroin injections he gave her.

During the two-day trial, jurors heard evidence that Gerstein, plagued by her addiction, asked Seagle to give her injections in the hand, arm and foot.

After 2 1/2 hours of deliberations, the jury of seven men and five women announced its guilty verdict and recommended that Seagle receive a total of 28 years for murder, possession of drugs and possession with intent to distribute.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 13.
