John Edwin (J.E.) Threewitts Jr., 74, of the 500 block of Hartswood Terrace, died Friday at his residence.
Mr. Threewitts was born in Nashville, N.C. and was the son of the late John Edwin Threewitts Sr. and Betty Lee Whitehead Threewitts. He had retired from Lone Star as a crane operator with 35 years of service. In years past, he served as a deacon and elder for Calvary Presbyterian Church and more recently attended Atlantic Shores Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Maida Stogsdill Threewitts; his two daughters, Gail Miller and Sandra Clymer and his son-in-law, Leland F. (Rick) Miller, all of Chesapeake; one sister, Maxine Chitty of Miami, Fla.; five brothers, Joe Threewitts of Littleton, N.C., Leroy Threewitts of Emporia, Va., Marvin Threewitts of Albany, Ga., Jesse Thomas Threewitts of Miami, Fla. and Albert Threewitts of Lumberton, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Eric Miller and Micah Clymer.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home by the Rev. Jim Wolfcale. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Atlantic Shores Christian School, 1861 Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23464.
