Voyce Donald McGinley Sr., 79, of the 700 block of Cambridge Ave., a retired self-employed roofing contractor, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 1994, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. McGinley was a native of South Boston, Va. He was the widower of Lessie Catherine McGinley. He was a member of Portsmouth Christian Church, where he was a deacon, elder and Sunday School teacher. He was a past Boy Scout troop leader. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann McEwen.
Survivors include three sons, Voyce Donald McGinley Jr., William Carl McGinley and Raymond P. McGinley Sr., all of Portsmouth; a half-brother, Carl Clayton McGinley of Jacksonville, Fla.; and six grandchildren, Voyce D. McGinley III, David Christopher McGinley, Dawn M. Ward, Ronald P. McEwen, Heather L. McGinley and Raymond P. McGinley Jr.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, by the Rev. Damon E. Wyatt. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home today from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and will also be at 310 Hanbury Ave., Portsmouth.
