Annie Rebecca Ashby, 71, of the 800 block of River Bend Road, a retired textile worker, died Oct. 28, 1994, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Mrs. Ashby was born in Princess Anne County, Va. She was the widow of Charles Ashby and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Mothers Board. She was predeceased by her parents, Annie Woodhouse and Lemuel Woodhouse.
Survivors include two goddaughters, Sally Malone of Lombard, Ill. and Monica Putman of Bronx, N.Y.; two godsons, Mark Mitchell of Virginia Beach and Peter Henry of Lombard, Ill.; two sisters, Ella W. Bell and Sarah Cason, both of Virginia Beach; and one brother, Daniel Woodhouse of Virginia Beach.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in New Hope Baptist Church, Old Great Neck Road, by the Rev. E. Ray Cox. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family will assemble at the home of her sister, 385 Old Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach.
