Henry Clay Yates, 79, of Sturgis St., died Oct. 29, 1994, in Norfolk.
Mr. Yates was born in Alexandria, Va. He had retired from the U.S. Navy in 1968 as a CWO4 with over 30 years of service. He had also retired from the City of Norfolk Public Health Dept. in May 1981 with over 12 years of service. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Crooke Bernadett and Hampton Wade Yates.
Survivors include his wife, Norma J. Yates of Sturgis St., Norfolk; a daughter, Theresa C. Antilla of Bruce Crossing, Mich.; three sons, Bernard H. Yates of Newport News and Phillip W. Yates and Brian H. Yates, both of Norfolk; a sister and brother-in-law, the Rev. Paul Bohi and Peggy Bohi of Stuarts Draft, Va.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Frances Yates of Norfolk.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 1, 1994 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church by Fr. Lou Ruoff. A viewing will be at the church Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. to receive friends. A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the church with a procession following to Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be given to the American Heart Association in Henry's name.
