John Edward Wecht Jr., 50, of the 4500 block of Revere Drive, former owner and president of John E. Wecht Jr., C.P.A., P.C., died Saturday, Oct. 29, 1994, at his residence.
Mr. Wecht was born in Richmond, Va. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and Old Dominion University Accounting Chapter. He is an O.D.U. Alumnus. He was past president of the Pembroke Kiwanis and was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Gilligan Wecht; a daughter, Amy Bridget Wecht; two sons, John Edward Wecht III and Joseph Thomas Wecht, all of Virginia Beach; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Edward Wecht Sr. of Chesapeake; three brothers, Robert G. Wecht of Virginia Beach, James M. Wecht of Blue Point, N.Y., and Kenneth A. Wecht of Chesapeake.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 1994, at 11 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Virginia Beach, by Fr. Luke Policicchio O.S.B. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. A Christian wake service will be held on Monday, Oct. 31, 1994, at 7 p.m. in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, with visitation following until 9 p.m. Friends may join the family at 808 Beldover Court, Virginia Beach following the burial. Memorial donations may be made to Pembroke Kiwanis Scholarship Fund or the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern Virginia, 5825 Arrowhead Drive, Virginia Beach.
