A second person who was injured in a fatal wreck on Friday in front of Smithfield High School has died, police said Sunday.
John C. Armstrong, 18, of Elveron died late Saturday at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Crystal L. Combs, 10, also of Elveron, died Friday at the scene of the head-on crash. Her sister, Chastity Combs, 17, remained in stable condition Sunday at Norfolk General.
The accident occurred when the 1984 Honda that Armstrong was driving, and in which Combs was a passenger, was struck at 5:16 p.m. Friday by a 1981 Ford pickup that crossed the center line of the highway in front of the high school.
Two other teenagers also were injured in the accident.
Police said the driver of the pickup, a 16-year-old Carrollton girl, lost control. She and another teenage girl were taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News with minor injuries.
Charges are pending.
