A pullout quote with a story Monday on high-speed driver training
for police recruits was attributed to the wrong person. It was
Chesapeake Police Detective Dick Black who said, ``You should have
seen it the first day. It was mass cone-icide. Regular auto
bowling.'' The quote was correctly attributed in the story.
A map Saturday showing the location of a shooting early Friday in
Virginia Beach had an error. The map correctly located the site,
near the intersection of Newtown and Baker roads. However, an inset
in the map mislocated the general area.
In some editions of Saturday's Television Week section, a photo
from the show ``Babylon 5'' was mistakenly printed with a front-page
description of ``Gone With the Wind.''
CLARIFICATION
A graphic on A3 Monday, with a story on the White House shooting,
provided misleading information about the SKS semiautomatic carbine.
It would be impossible to pull the trigger fast enough to achieve
the rate of fire listed - 600 rounds per minute. Even if the weapon
had been converted for fully automatic fire, it would have to be
reloaded 20 times to fire 600 rounds.
