David Samuel ``Sam'' Modlin, 73, of the 100 block of Main St., died Nov. 2, 1994, at home.
Mr. Modlin was born in Bertie County, N.C, and was the widower of Louise Summs Modlin. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lewiston Woodville and Davie Masonic Lodge (NU)39 of Lewiston Woodville.
Survivors include a daughter, Mildred M. Hensley of Roanoke, Va.; two sons, David Joseph Modlin of Hampton, Va. and Edward Arthur Modlin of Yorktown, Va.; a stepson, William E. Spencer Jr. of Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother, John Wesley Modlin of Lewiston Woodville; a half brother, David Charles of Richmond; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hoggard Memorial Cemetery by the Rev. Robert May. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie. Memorial donations may be made to Roanoke Chowan Hospice, P.O. Box 272, Ahoskie, N.C. 27910, or to the Lewiston Woodville Fire Department.
