Jack B. Ferguson, 71, died on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 1994 at Sentara Leigh Hospital.
Mr. Ferguson was born in Arcola, Ill., and was the son of the late Osa and Lula Flood Ferguson.
He received his education at the University of Illinois and was a U.S. Air Force pilot during World War II. He was an aviation buff all his life and retained a certified license until his health failed.
He was employed as a heat absorption engineer involved in designing systems and in sales.
After retiring he served as a volunteer at Central Library in Virginia Beach.
He was a member of The Worldwide Church of God.
His survivors include his wife, Elaine Huskey Ferguson; daughters, Krista Eppley of Seal Beach, Calif., Rossanne Varnedoe of Mandarin, Fla.; two granddaughters, Allison and Kendra Varnedoe; a stepson, Charles Randolph Howell of San Jose, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Judith Elaine Howell of Decatur, Ga.; a sister, Christine Miller of Forsyth, Ill.; and a nephew, Glenn Ferguson of Springfield, Ill.
Mr. Ferguson requested his body be given to medical science for research.
A memorial service will be held at Kellum Funeral Home at Pleasant Hall, 5184 Princess Anne Road in Virginia Beach on Friday, Nov. 11, 1994 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his favorite charity, his church, and may be mailed to: Local Church Activity Fund-Norfolk, P.O. Box 3392, Norfolk, Va. 23663.
