Fire investigators have determined that the explosions and a fire that killed 15-year-old Shaine Jackson Monday were accidental, but they are unsure about the details.
The explosions occurred shortly after 4 p.m. at 2609 Elon Drive. They destroyed the home and damaged a neighboring house.
The initial explosion and resulting fire were sparked by the ignition of petroleum products, officials said Thursday.
A second explosion, apparently set off by the first, occurred when a 100-pound propane cylinder ruptured.
Jackson died moments after rescue workers began transporting him to a waiting air ambulance. The State Medical Examiner said the teenager died as a result of massive burns.
Authorities don't know what caused the first explosion. Samples have been sent to the state crime lab to identify the petroleum product.
