Sudie Fogle Pond, 88, a longtime resident of Suffolk, died at the home of her son, Samuel B. Pond Jr., in Washington, N.C., on Nov. 12, 1994.
Mrs. Pond, the daughter of the late John Jacob Fogle and Johanna Sojourner Fogle was born on Feb. 6, 1906, in Denmark, S.C. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Oxford United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was married to Samuel B. Pond Sr., who preceded her in death on March 13, 1968.
Surviving in addition to her son is a daughter, Anna P. Bangley of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Georgia F. Pond of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a half brother, Herbert W. Fogle of Denmark, S.C.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Oxford United Methodist Church by the Rev. E.E. Jones and the Rev. Woodrow Lane. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Her grandsons, Timothy Bangley, Scott Bangley, Dr. Samuel B. Pond III, Lee Pond, Dr. Kevin Tracy and great-grandson, Bryan Tracy will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Oxford United Methodist Church.
