Norris Roger Bly, 63, of Burdette Road, died Monday, Nov. 14, 1994.
Mr. Bly was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., and resided in Southampton County most of his married life. He was a Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War, and attended the University of Michigan. He was a peanut buyer for the Virginia-Carolina Peanut Co-op. He was a member, former Sunday School teacher and church clerk at Black Creek Baptist Church. He was a member of Black Creek Ruritan Club and Franklin Kiwanis Club, former president of the Franklin-Southampton Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the Franklin-Southampton Republican Party. He was a member of the Franklin American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Edwards Bly; two daughters, Cherie Bly Perry and Linda Bly Newcomer, both of Franklin; his mother, Connie Ogden and stepfather, William Ogden, both of Michigan; and stepmother, Hazel Violet Bly of Suffolk.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Wayne Underwood and the Rev. Donald Trump. Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Foundation (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
