Rev. Elmer L. Wood, 62, of the 2800 block of Garrett St., died Nov. 14, 1994, in Maryview Hospital.
He was born in Pasquotank County, N.C, and was retired from civil service. Rev. Wood was also a minister and pastor of Bethlehem Christian Church United Church of Christ, 312 Bute St., Suffolk. He was a member of Fellowship United Church of Christ. He was a Navy veteran of Korea.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian F. Wood; three daughters, Marsha W. Turner of Norfolk and Kristal W. Jenkins and Joanne F. Sutton, both of Chesapeake; three sisters, Lillie Mae Turner of Hertford, N.C., Alpine Taylor of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Weltha Morris of Jamaica, N.Y.; a brother, Lloyd Wood of Elizabeth City; two sons-in-law, Douglas Turner of Norfolk and Ronald Jenkins of Chesapeake.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Fellowship United Church of Christ, 1402 Gust Lane, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Winston E. Waugh and Joseph M. Copeland. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. A wake will be held at Bethlehem Christian Church United Church of Christ, 312 Bute St., Suffolk, from 7 to 8 p.m. The family will assemble at his residence, 2820 Garrett St., Chesapeake.
