AMERICAN EAGLE PULLS OUT OF PENINSULA AIRPORT

American Eagle Airlines will discontinue its service at Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport in January, the Peninsula Airport Commission said Thursday. American Eagle, a commuter carrier affiliated with American Airlines, provides three daily round-trip flights to Raleigh-Durham Airport from the Peninsula airport. It had about 7 percent of the scheduled-flight market at the airport. A spokesman at the local airport said American's downsizing of its Raleigh hub and the increasing market share of USAir and USAir Express hurt American Eagle's local boardings. by CNB
