Hilda Friedman Margolin, died Nov. 17, 1994, in a Norfolk hospital.
She was born Jan. 3, 1902, in Baltimore and was the widow of Dr. Ellis Margolin.
Hilda was a 1925 honors graduate of Goucher College. She was particularly proud of the fact she was one of the first women graduates of Yale University where she was awarded a master's degree in 1928 in physiology. She was a member of Sigma Xi scientific research honorary and Phi Sigma biology honorary. Mrs. Margolin was on the faculty of Goucher College, University of Maryland Medical School and Washington University in St. Louis. She published several scientific articles and did medical research.
An accomplished violinist, she graduated from Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore. She delighted in teaching and stimulating young people and was loved and admired by all. Hilda was an artist, bridge player, cook and world traveler.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Dr. Herbert Brewer of Norfolk, Linda and Kenneth Robinson of Miami; and grandchildren, David and Lisa Robinson, Laurence and Sandy Brewer and Wendi and Paul Fisch. She is survived by a sister, Lillian Klein, and a brother, Norman Friedman of Baltimore.
Hilda was a member of Gomley Chesed Congregation and Hadassah.
Services will be at Gomley Chesed Synagogue on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 10:30 a.m. The family will be at 6083 River Crescent, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gomley Chesed Synagogue or a charity of choice.
Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling arrangements.
