It is unbelievable that Robert Shaw could paint such a rosy picture of riverboat gaming (letter, Nov. 14).
I just returned from Biloxi, Miss., having gone there to visit a relative - not to gamble.
I see nothing good in people throwing their money away in that manner.
Pawn shops have sprung up and crime is up.
The traffic is non-stop through town.
Riverboat gaming has really ruined a nice little Southern town.
Virginia has the lottery. That is enough.
I am not a Virginia resident, and I don't care what the states does. But I believe Virginians should be wise enough not to let the fictitious figures fool them. It sounds good, but it isn't.
