John W. West Jr., 76, died November 24, 1994, in Williamsburg Community Hospital.
A native of Portsmouth, he had been a Williamsburg resident for the past 20 years. He retired as a cost reduction engineer from the Department of the Navy in 1974 after 30 years of service. He was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge (NU)100 in Portsmouth.
He is survived by his wife, Jane E. West of Williamsburg; one son, J.T. West of Suffolk; and one sister, Mary West Smith of Portsmouth.
A graveside service will be held in Oakland Christian Church Cemetery on Sunday, November 27, 1994, at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Hyman Vann of Great Neck Baptist Church.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Great Neck Baptist Church Building Fund, 1020 Gen. Jackson Dr., Virginia Beach, Va., or Oakland Christian Church Building Fund, Highway 10, Chuckatuck Station, Suffolk. Arrangements made by Williamsburg Funeral Home.
