ARCHITECTURAL
Waller, Todd & Sadler Architects Inc. in Virginia Beach appointed Melody L. Will an associate. Will joined the architectural firm in 1988, and serves as a CADD manager and project manager.
The firm also appointed Julie A. Kephart and Maureen P. Shea architects in the firm.
Kephart, who holds a master's degree in architecture, was with Design Unlimited in Seattle, Wash.
Shea was an architect intern with Dewey Nichols Architecture in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Holly L. Sides was appointed director of marketing with the architectural firm of Cox, Kliewer & Co. in Virginia Beach. Sides held the same position with I.V. Harris and Associates in Virginia Beach.
BANKING
The Bank of Commonwealth promoted John H. Gayle from vice president to senior vice president, cashier, personnel officer and corporate secretary. Gayle joined the bank in 1985. He was formerly with First Virginia Bank of Tidewater.
The bank also promoted Barbara E. Cleveland, Deborah B. Coon, and Amber W.D. Pickrell to assistant vice presidents and officer positions.
Cleveland has been with the bank since 1983. She is branch manger of the Lynnhaven office.
Coon serves as data processing officer. She joined the bank in 1980.
And, Pickrell who was a compliance administrator is now a compliance officer.
SERVICE
Robert R. Barnett was named general manager with Jackson Hewitt Tax Service in Portsmouth. He will be responsible for ten offices in the Hampton Roads area, Smithfield and Franklin.
Barnett was a vice president with NationaBank in its bankcard division in Norfolk.
INSURANCE
Thomas A. Perry Sr. has become senior vice president with Health-Trust Inc. (formerly Benefit Consultant Services) in Virginia Beach. He joined the third party administrator of employee benefit plans after being self-employed as an independent insurance agent.
LAW
Steven A. Mirman was named an associate with the law firm of Randolph D. Stowe in Norfolk. He will practice in the areas of criminal defense and general civil litigation. Mirman was an assistant commonwealth's attorney in Norfolk.
The law firm of Joynes and Bieber in Virginia Beach appointed Jeanette M. Kelly medical advisor for the practice. Kelly, a registered nurse, was director of nursing with Riverside Health Systems. She will work out of the firm's Hampton office.
RETAIL
Monty Reese was named senior vice president of marketing with Home Quarters Warehouse Inc. in Virginia Beach. He will be in charge of advertising, public relations, marketing research and direct mail for the home improvement retailer.
For the past seven years, Reese was senior vice president of marketing with Ernst Home and Nursery. He also served as vice president of marketing and advertising for Builders Square and Handy Man Corp. He began his retail career with Sears Roebuck & Co.
