THANKS FOR SPECIAL TEACHERS

Like most teachers, my mother is overworked and underpaid but nevertheless loves her job. She teaches in a special-education department that helps kids with learning disabilities. This method of teaching demands a great deal of patience and understanding. Often her brilliant and innovative ways of helping a confused kid go unnoticed by parents, students and faculty.

Teachers like my mom who log long hours of personal time working independently with kids are probably the sole reason I made it through school. It's ironic that a job that can have the most impact and influence on a young life often gets the least recognition and thanks.

I am extremely thankful for my mom and all the other teachers who every day go above and beyond their job description to help children understand.
