Susie Ward Byrum, 87, formerly of the 300 block of Mount Vernon Ave., a homemaker, died Nov. 27, 1994, in a Suffolk hospital.
Mrs. Byrum was a native of Chowan County, N.C., and was the widow of John Alfred Byrum. She was a member of Port Norfolk Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Inez B. Elliott of Suffolk, Christine B. Friend of Las Vegas, Barbara B. Lawrence of Victorville, Calif., and Evelyn B. White of Fresno, Calif.; a son, John T. Byrum of Portsmouth; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Loving Funeral Home Chapel, Churchland, by Dr. Ector Hamrick. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
