THURMAN L. MORRIS

Thurman Lee Morris, 75, of Route 1, died early Monday morning, Nov. 28, 1994, in his home following a sudden illness.

Mr. Morris was born in Gates County. The son of the late Walter F. and Mrs. Beulah Smith Morris, he was a retired farmer. A member and deacon of Middle Swamp Baptist Church, he had formerly served on the Gates County Board of Commissioners, the Gates County Board of Social Services, the ASC Community Committee and the Board of Directors of the Roanoke Electric Membership Corporation.

Surviving are his wife, Carrie Rawls Morris; one sister, Thelma M. Dilday of Ahoskie; one brother, Tommy Morris of Aydlett; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Middle Swamp Baptist Church by the Rev. Joseph Buck. Burial will follow in the Morris Family Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gates County Rescue Squad.
