Matthew Wiley Lynch Sr., 60, a mailer, died Nov. 28, 1994, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Lynch was born in Northampton County, Va., and was employed with Landmark Communications Inc. for 44 years. He was a member of Norview Baptist Church and enjoyed taking part in the music ministry. He led a monthly chapel time at Hillhaven Nursing Home for over 18 years. He finished the course and kept the faith.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Joyce Lynch; a daughter, Terry NeSmith of Norfolk; a stepson, Joe Hammel of Norfolk; four sisters, Ida Mae Fitchette of Exmore, Va., Gatha Rean Tatum of Pocomoke, Md., Beatrice Bohmier of Waterford, Mich., Dorothy Smith of Virginia; a brother, John G. Lynch of Norfolk; and a grandson, Matthew Lynch III of Jacksonville, Fla.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Norview Baptist Church by the Rev. James Bradshaw and the Rev. Elbert Lynn. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends in Smith & Williams Funeral Home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Donations may be made to the Music Ministry of Norview Baptist Church.
