VERNIE M. CAMPBELL

Vernie M. Campbell, 79, of the 1000 block of George St., a retired electrician, died Nov. 28, 1994, in Windsor.

Mr. Campbell was born in Page County, Va., and was retired from Norfolk & Western Railroad after 18 years. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and was the widower of Louvenia Knapp Campbell.

Survivors include a daughter, Mabel C. Bates of Windsor; a son, Leonard Matthews of Virginia Beach; four sisters, Florence Barton of Norfolk, Lillian Curtis of Kettering, Ohio, Lettie Batman of Shenandoah, Va., and Ruth Romash of Arlington, Va.; three brothers, Joe Roy Campbell of Windsor, Ben B. Campbell of Virginia Beach and Woody M. Campbell of Grottoes, Va.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. W. Emmett M. Diggs. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
