Two men were wounded - one critically - Monday night in what police described as a drive-by shooting.
It was the third double-shooting in Hampton Roads in as many days.
The men were in their car somewhere along Campostella Road when the shooting occurred, police said. A neighbor said they had been in the Crestwood area.
Police identified the two men as James W. Lewis, 39, who lives in the Midway Trailer Park on Campostella Road; and Christopher M. Graf, 17, of the 700 block of B St.
Details of what happened remained sketchy, and police said they knew of no motive.
It was unclear whether the victims' car was stopped or moving when they were shot. But the shooting left a large bullet hole in the driver's-side door, just inches below the window of the blue Ford station wagon. Another bullet appeared to have shattered the windshield, hitting the lower corner on the driver's side.
The victims drove to the trailer park, just off South Military Highway, where a call was made to police about 8 p.m.
Lewis was critically injured with a gunshot to the chest. He was in surgery early today at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Graf, who is the boyfriend of Lewis' daughter, was taken by ambulance to Norfolk General.
After the shooting, Kevin Leavister, 22, who lives in the trailer next door, took in Lewis' young son. He said the boy told him that his father had staggered into the trailer and collapsed.
``This is usually a quiet place,'' Leavister said, ``but with all the chaos in the world, I guess it's not surprising that it finally got kind of crazy here.''
The incident came on the heels of two other double-shootings in the region. On Saturday night, a man and his wife were shot in their home in Virginia Beach. The man remains hospitalized; his wife was treated and released. On Sunday, a man and a woman were shot in Norfolk and the man later died. The woman is still hospitalized.
