MAN CHARGED IN SHOOTING

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man and charged him with three counts of malicious wounding in a shooting Nov. 20 at a nightclub off London Boulevard.

The suspect was identified by police as David M. Granger, of 503 Gygax Ave., also known as ``June Bug.'' He additionally was charged with three weapons violations and one count of shooting into the Global Affairs nightclub. Global Affairs is located one block off of London Boulevard in the 300 block of Williamsburg Ave.

Granger is charged with wounding three men during gunplay, which followed a series of fights inside the club and in the club's parking lot. One police officer who answered a call to the club discovered that a bullet had grazed his uniform, leaving its mark on his necktie and on a leather ammunition pouch on his belt.

Meanwhile, Newport News police announced arrests on Monday in a fatal shooting at a nightclub in that city on Nov. 20.

Bill Roth, Newport News police spokesman, said William Bolton, 19, of the 800 block of 28th St. in Newport News and Cleon M. Avery, 21, of no known address, were arrested at police headquarters, where they were being questioned. Both were charged with murder and a weapons violation.
