Hugh Johnson Sr. of the 1000 block of Wilson Road, died Nov. 28, 1994, in a local hospital.
Mr. Johnson was born in Scotland Neck, N.C., and was retired from East Coast Oil Corp. after 15 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Martha Ann Macklin Johnson and Samuel Augusta Johnson.
Survivors include three daughters, Gwendolyn Johnson Bracy of Norfolk, Angela Nixon and Alfreda Johnson; two sons, Hugh Johnson Jr. and Leroy Johnson, both of New York; four sisters, Beulah Williams of North Carolina, Oliva Reynolds-Coley, Jennie Reynolds-Perry, Maggie Reynolds-Fitzgerald, all of Norfolk; two brothers, Lonnie Johnson Sr. of Norfolk and James Reynolds of Newport News; six grandchildren, Carolyn Nixon, De-Agelo Nixon, Chucky Nixon, Corey Nixon, Ciara Johnson and Brittany Johnson; son-in-law, Morris Bracy of Norfolk; a brother-in-law, the Rev. James C. Williams; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Johnson of Norfolk, Ruby Reynolds of Newport News, aunt, Annie Knight of Newport News; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in St. Thomas AMEZ Church, Norfolk, by Dr. G.L. Scott, Pastor and the Rev. Joseph Lassiter (officiating). Burial will be in Mary Chapel Cemetery, Scotland Neck, N.C. The body will be placed in the church on Friday at 10 a.m. Family and friends will assemble at 1827 Springfield Ave., Norfolk, the home of Lonnie Johnson, and will leave from there at 11 a.m. Friday for the funeral processional to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service is handling arrangements.
