Andrew ``Jack'' Bond, 71, of the 500 block of Bunche Blvd., a retired wood craftsman, died Nov. 30, 1994, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Mr. Bond was born in Sunbury, N.C. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 31 years, was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian G. Bond; eight daughters, Eleanor B. Harris and Ivy S. Bond, both of Portsmouth, Cynthia Goodman of Chesapeake, Adrienne B. King of Virginia Beach, Jennifer Goodman of Suffolk, Barbara Petty of Norfolk, Meryle C. Hoffler of Waterbury, Conn., and Abbolyn B. Byrd of West Haven, Conn.; five sons, Larmont D. Bond of Portsmouth, Melvin E. Goodman of Chesapeake, Larry L. Goodman of Suffolk, Dwight D. Goodman of Korea and Ronald C. Booker of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Maewarren Hardie of Portsmouth and Dorothy Riddick of Chesapeake; six brothers, Conrad Bond and William Bond, both of Portsmouth, Shirley Bond and Francis Bond, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., Harry Bond of Philadelphia, Pa., and Leon Bond of Sunbury, N.C.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Olive Branch Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. J.B. Sharp. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at Corprew Funeral Home, where the family will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday. The body will be taken to the church at noon Monday.
