MICHAEL COOPER

Michael Cooper, 97, a retired attorney, formerly of Norfolk, died November 30, 1994, in Mobile, Alabama after a brief illness.

Mr. Cooper was born in Tarboro, N.C., in 1897 and his family moved to Norfolk in 1900.

He leaves his wife, Sarah Cohen Cooper; two daughters, Jo Barbara Yulsman of Abington, Pa., Tamra Perlman of Mobile, Al.; a son, Irving T.G. Cooper of Abington, Pa.; a sister, Rena Cooper Zittrain of Virginia Beach; a brother Dudley Cooper of Norfolk; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Cooper graduated from Maury High School and from Washington and Lee University Law School in 1918, of which he was the oldest living graduate at the time of his death. He was an Army Veteran of World War I and a member of the Virginia State Bar. He practiced law from 1918 to 1937, and then again from 1963 to 1970 when he was Of Counsel to Cooper and Cooper. From 1937 to 1963 Mr. Cooper was President of Tidewater Optical Laboratories.

A graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Sunday, December 4, 1994 at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Rabbi Samuel Sobel will preside.

The family requests that donations be made to Ohef Sholom Temple or to a charity of choice, and that flowers be omitted. The family will be at The Marriott Hotel in Norfolk. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Norfolk is handling arrangements.
