Seldon Lee Smith, 80, of the 500 block of W. 27th St., died Dec. 1, 1994, in his residence.
Mr. Smith was born in Norfolk, the son of the late Mr. Henry E. Smith Sr. and the late Mrs. Osia Brown Smith. He retired from public works with the Navy after 30 years, was a member of Abyssinia Baptist Church, deacon emeritus, past chairman of the deacon board, taught the adult male Bible class, former member of the gospel choir, male chorus, usher board, and was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Willie Mae Seay Smith; a daughter, Rosa R. Morring of Norfolk; a son, retired Lt. Col. Samuel C. Smith of Rome, N.Y.; a sister, Florence Smith Patterson of Norfolk; two brothers, Henry E. Smith Jr. of Norfolk and Charles B. Smith of Patterson, N.J.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday at Abyssinia Baptist Church, Norfolk, by Dr. Frank Guns Sr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Riddick Funeral Service is handling arrangements. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Family and friends will assemble at the residence for the procession. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
