Belva Weeks, widely known for the colorful costumes she wears as a school crossing guard, won top honors in the annual Manteo Christmas parade Saturday.
The winning float, ``Santa's Express,'' featured a train filled with costumed children directed in song by Weeks, dressed as ``Frosty the Snowman.''
Weeks also won the top prize last year.
The second-place float this year was designed by the Dare County Head Start program. Third was Mount Olivet Methodist Church.
The parade is sponsored by the Roanoke Island Business Association. The judges were two association members, Eileen Alexanian-Kelley and Joanne Speer. ILLUSTRATION: Color photo
