The glow from Portsmouth's official Christmas tree showers its
holiday glow on, from left, Kristen Hess, 14; Neil Collins; Nathan
Collins, 6; and Kristin Ouellette, 6. The quartet had moved in for a
close look at the tree after Portsmouth kicked off its holiday
celebration with music and marching. Several local school choirs
formed a mass choir for the Christmas concert and more than 60
groups and bands paraded along High Strees before the official
tree-lighting by Mayor Gloria O. Webb. Among the marching groups
was, right, the color guard from the Portsmouth Sheriff's
Department.
