Rebecca Jean Sykes, 59, of Route 2, Conway, died Sunday, at Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie, N.C.
Mrs. Sykes was a beautician and a faithful member of Zion United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Church Women. She was the daughter of the late Merritt and L.S. Sykes.
Survivors include her husband, Walter M. Sykes; a son, W.M. Sykes Jr. and daughter-in-law, Tracy Sykes, both of Conway; three sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Sumner of Conway, Mrs. Dorothy Harrell of Murfreesboro, N.C. and Mrs. C.B. Parker of Washington, N.C.; a brother, Bill Sykes of Selma, N.C.; her aunt and uncle, Margaret and Jack Deloatch of Chesapeake; and her cousins, Mrs. Nancy Harvin of Brookhaven, Pa., and Mrs. Bobbie Benthall of Raleigh.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Zion United Methodist Church by the Rev. Vern Womack and the Rev. David Spalding. Burial will follow at the family cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Jackson Funeral Home, Jackson, today from 7 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Methodist Church of the Conway Rescue Squad.
