James Beckwith Spratley, 96, of the Hermitage Retirement Home, died Dec. 3, 1994.
Mr. Spratley was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church, was retired from C & P Telephone Company, a member of the Hanover Ruritan Club and the Washington Henry Masonic Lodge No. 344 AF&AM. Before retiring to the Hermitage Home, Mr. Spratley made his residence at the the Historic Laurel Meadow Farm near Mechanicsville in Hanover County.
He is survived by two nephews, Ashby W. Spratley Jr. of Garner, N.C., William Delany Spratley III, of Norfolk; two sisters-in-law, Lucy B. Spratley and Elizabeth Nimmo Atwood.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hermitage Home Chapel, 1600 Westwood Ave. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, Va.
