Hattie Gordon Hester, 89, of the 1000 block of Kenton Ave., a retired church clerk, died Dec. 4, 1994, in her residence.
Mrs. Hester was born in Norfolk. She had retired from St. Paul C.M.E. Church after 40 years. She was the widow of Tanzy Hester and was a member of St. Paul C.M.E. Church. She was also a member of the Senior Choir, Gospel Choir and was also the Mother of the church. She was predeceased by her parents, Delphia Wilson and David Gordon.
Survivors include two god daughters, Takiea Augustine of Norfolk and Hermione Emmerson; a cousin, Margaret Gordon of Norfolk; and dearest friends, Margaret C. Johnson and Henry Johnson.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul C.M.E. Church, 310 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., by the Rev. Theodore R. McKenny. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Family will assemble at her residence. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo
