Leonard B. Reilly, 72, a retired gunners mate missileman first class, died Dec. 4, 1994, in Portsmouth.
Mr. Reilly was born in Woonsocket, R.I., and retired from the U.S. Navy in 1966 after 21 years. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam and was a survivor of the Battle of Leyte Gulf on Oct. 25, 1944, during World War II. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, American Legion Post (NU)327, Fleet Reserve Association Branch (NU)60 and the American Cribbage Congress.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia M. Reilly; three daughters, Judy V. Bruce of Norfolk, Maureen A. Kesslan of Phoenix, Ariz., and Helen Margaret Reilly of Norfolk; two sons, Brendan Michael Reilly of Virginia Beach and Kevin C. Reilly of Chesapeake; a sister, Helen M. Sullivan of North Kingston, R.I.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hampton National Cemetery by Father Lou Ruoff and Chaplain B.O. Kingwood. The family will be at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. A Fleet Reserve service will be held today at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Military honors will be accorded at the grave.
