Valeriano Melendez Sr., 88 of Route 3, a retired merchant seaman, died Dec. 4, 1994, in Brian Center Nursing Home, Windsor.
He was born in Puerto Rico and was a member of Soul Saving Station, Ahoskie.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Melendez of Manhattan, N.Y.; three sons, the Rev. Valeriano Melendez of Ahoskie, Tony Melendez of Bronx, N.Y., and Gearld Melendez of Manhattan; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Soul Saving Station, Ahoskie, by Pastor Donnie Graham. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. A wake will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Hunter's Funeral Home.
