CHIEF ELECTED

The Board of Directors of the Colington Volunteer Fire Department has elected Kim Piddington as its first full-time chief.

Piddington has been a member of the Colington Volunteer Fire Department for 16 years, having served as deputy chief for the past seven. He was the first full-time paid firefighter with the department.

Piddington is a North Carolina certified level III firefighter and a state-certified emergency medical technician.

``I am very proud of the Colington Volunteer Fire Department and the corps of dedicated hard-working volunteers that commit their time and efforts to the residents of the Colington Fire District,'' Piddington said. ``I am looking forward to the challenge that the job of chief will offer me.''
