It is understood that within 30 years the pensions of federal employees, including the military and civil service, plus the interest of our national debt ($4 trillion) will absorb our entire national income.
Regarding the letter from Kenneth W. Saucer (``Choose those who would cut entitlements,'' Nov. 9): I agree.
I retired in 1968 as a supervisory customs inspector. To help our country avoid national bankruptcy, I would be glad to see Congress endorse legislation concerning entitlements.
Those of us who have retired generally have educated our children, bought homes, made investments, etc., and for the solvency of this country could live on less. Actually a number of retirees have taken on other jobs and, of course, we will continue Social Security.
